When Rory Markham was growing up in Chicago’s South Side, he would run around in his underwear and tell his mother, a nurse practitioner at Illinois Institute of Technology who also worked giving physicals at a maximum security prison on weekends, that he was going to be the greatest fighter in the world. After chasing the dream his whole life, 20 years later, Markham now runs around IFL rings in his Silverbacks gear and, based on his results to date, is working on fulfilling that “greatest fighter” proclamation.
